Our Founder

Owner Kate Anderson-Firth is obsessed with popcorn. Like, REALLY obsessed. Originally from Dallas, Texas, Kate brings her love affair for the much beloved American snack to Australia in a way you’ve never seen before.

Prior to moving to Australia, Kate was a professional steel sculptor creating public artworks and working in the fine art world. Making her no stranger to large hot machinery! In the pursuit of bringing her popcorn passion to Australia, Kate trained in the United States with one of the Godfather’s of gourmet popcorn. Pop Lab Popcorn now stands at the forefront of popcorn innovation, blending art and science to create delightful, unexpected, and delicious popcorn experiences that tantalise taste buds with each new flavour concoction. You can catch her making the candies, caramels, savouries and chocolates for her popcorns in our shop in Fairfield. Come in and say howdy!

Pop Lab Popcorn HQ

Pop Lab Popcorn’s headquarters is located just North East of Melbourne’s CBD in Fairfield. The shop is a paradise for popcorn lovers and the kernel curious alike. The design of the shop is a feast for the eyes and stomach! We make all 30+ gourmet popcorns from scratch, in small batches with premium ingredients. With offerings from savoury, sweet, spicy, and even sour, you can visit us and sample your heart out! In addition to our huge popcorn range, we have hundreds of candies, and a retro Soda Bar with hand-mixed sodas, floats, malts, and milkshakes. Come in for a tasting and sit at our soda bar for the full experience.

Our popcorn samples are offered in sustainable stainless steel cups that are washed and hand polished daily. Our manufacturing equipment is powered by one of Australia’s greenest power companies, Momentum Energy. We are most proud of our 100% home compostable bags and labels for all four popcorn bag sizes (Snack to Texas size!). We think that’s rad.
